Since were into the first couple of months of the new year there maybe alot of us decluttering and trying to start off the new year fresh so by doing so why not try emptying out that make up drawer I know it's a pain in the neck but it has to get done we all tend to keep our make up way past its life expediency and sometimes we don't want to part with !! But Just like food cosmetics go off too.
The product will loose its efficiency over time and you will become unable to use them for example foundation, the foundations staying power will become decreased over time and the constancy will change which prevents the ability of creating a smooth and long lasting base for your make up.


If you stumble across a lipstick in the back of your drawer and are unsure about the length of time you've had it there is a website that allows you to check up the date of when it was manufactured and how long of a shelf life it has all you have to do is enter the batch code printed on your cosmetic packaging and you will receive the results instantly here's the link if would like to check it out http://checkcosmetic.net/ .


Under the law now all cosmetics must display a symbol indicating the length of time before your product goes out of date eg 12m m= months I've created a little list of a rough indication of when you should throw out your make up based on each type of product.

• Mascara - 3 months
  
• Liquid eyeliner - 6 months or less than that
  
• Cream Eye shadow - 6-12 months
  
• Eye Shadow - 1 year
  
• Lipstick - 1 year
  
• Moisturizer - 1 - 2 years
  
• Eyeliner & lip pencils - till 2 years
