Skincare is something that is highly important if you want to achieve flawless makeup and you need to have a good base, Caitriona from The Beauty Spot, a local salon located in the heart of Carrick kindly invited me in for a treatment which I was rather excited about, I don't have much knowledge in relation to skincare and it was great to meet someone who has interest and knowledge in skincare, from the very minute I walked into the salon I felt really welcomed, the environment surely felt relaxing and calming.

Prior to me coming in Caitriona and I discussed what treatment I would be interested in receiving I kindly suggested something in relation to skincare as I get asked quite frequently questions about skincare and I never felt comfortable answering since I wouldn't have the knowledge or the experience to do so, where as Caitriona is trained in that field and knows exactly what she's talking about, Caitriona is really friendly so don't be afraid to ask her questions.

The treatment that I received was a facial which I was quite excited about since I have never had one before and I always have been given recommendations from those who take part in the Irish Beauty Hour on twitter to get a facial as you would notice a huge difference in your skin which now I know is very true.

Before we began the treatment I filled out a consultation form which allows Caitriona to see what areas needed to be focused on or if you have any medical conditions or allergies, once I completed the from Caitriona noticed my dry skin and areas of redness, once I lay down Caitriona examined my skin even more to see what areas we needed to focus on for e.g. around my chin and nose.

During the treatment Caitriona explained everything step by step which I found excellent since I learned loads through out the treatment. For the facial caitriona used the Dermalogica range  which I must say their products are brilliant I do recommend in investing in them, I always say when it comes to skincare always spend that bit extra. Here is the process:

Mask:
  • Clinical colloidal oats mask to cool & hydrate skin

Face masks are an essential in your skin routine and as Victoria Beckham says in regards to her skin routine “it’s her ambulance in a tube”(a mask), I completely agree with that as it’s a perfect base and vitamin recovery for your skin. I just love the comfortable feeling of when your at home taking the time out and putting on your Pj’s, getting a DVD on and applying a simple face mask but without a doubt having a face mask done in a salon brings a whole new level of relaxation in your life especially with the lovely scents of essential oils such as midnight jasmine and patchouli leaves are in the air which I thank Caitriona ever so greatly for, It’s an experience that will truly make you enjoy your salon breaks

Finishing creams:
  • Ultra calming complex and Barrier repair to finish adding extra defence to your dermal tissues.
Massage:
  • Calming botanical mixer and ultra calming complex mixed to provide a long lasting relaxing method, as the complex will stay in your deep dermal layers for up to 8 hours after application.

This was also a first for me as I've never had a massage but the tension in my back was immense due to my job as I'm always on my feet and using my hands which puts extra stress on my muscles.

Finish:
  • Lastly I was required to breathe in essential oils of ginger, rosemary and alba which helps relax and calm you even more so.

Overall I was really impressed and I couldn’t believe the instant results in my skin. I do strongly recommend you to receive a facial as you’ll notice a huge difference in your skin it will feel softer, brighter and appear healthier. I kept getting complimented on how my skin has such a natural glow after this experience and a huge thing I noticed was my makeup applied so much better it didn't stick to any dry areas, it was smooth and even without any patches! Caitriona's top priority tip is if you tend to wear makeup often always double cleanse to ensure you remove ALL traces of makeup! Caitriona also kindly gave the ultra calming set by Dermalogica which I have been using since my facial and I find the products brilliant, she also gave me the Dermalogica charcoal mask which is great for deep cleaning and removing any impurities from your skin. Below I have attached Caitriona’s social media platforms and contact details for The Beauty Spot so please check out any of the other treatments she provides from nails to eyelashes!!!
