A Guide To False Lashes!

I myself never wear false lashes but when I do others makeup I always like to use false lashes to complete the makeup look and personally I think it really opens the eyes, so of course I thought it would be a perfect idea to share with you guys how to apply lashes and I will also share with you the various types of lashes that I use.

As you know lashes come in many variations and you'll be sure to find lashes to suit each makeup look such as natural, full, sparse or over the top! When it comes to lashes you also must select if you prefer the strips which are easier to apply or individual which are quite tricky but are great to use at the corner of your eye to open your eyes. The most common hands down must be strips simply because they are easy to apply and less time consuming but it doesn't stop there you also must pick between synthetic, natural and mink lashes (which I don't use), it really comes down to your personal choice, how much you are willing to spend and the look you are trying to achieve.

When applying lashes there is several things you need just to make the process a little bit easier when applying them:
  • Mirror - preferably a magnifying mirror which will allow you to get up close and see what exactly you are doing because the process is somewhat rather tricky.
  • Scissors - I think scissors are without a doubt one of the key things you need when applying your lashes this allows you to trim down the eyelashes at the edge depending on your eye shape.
  • Tweezers - they make the process of applying your lashes so much easier and quicker.
  • Eyelash glue - most lashes out there tend to come with glue if not stock up on Duo glue which is one of the most popular eyelash glues out there! I also think So Sue Me has Brought out her own lash glue so maybe check that out.
  • Eyeliner (Black) - this is a little trick that I use if there is any gaps between your natural lashes and your false lashes what you do is fill in the gaps with your eyeliner and then simply blend it in.
  • Mascara - lastly mascara, apply the mascara over the false lashes which will allow your natural and false lashes to blend together.

How to Apply
  1. Size up your eyelashes with your eye shape if they are too long for your eye shape then simply pick up your scissors and trim the false lashes.
  2. Apply glue onto the false lashes to do so you can use a brush or use the nozzle on the glue to disperse the glue all over the false lashes.
  3. For the lashes to stick you need the glue to get tacky so wait a few seconds before applying the false lashes to your eyes. You may see some people blow on the lashes to speed up the process but I don't recommend it as its highly unhygienic.
  4. Pick up your tweezers, apply the strip of lashes to the centre of your lash line, use your tweezers to press down onto the lashes to ensure it sticks.
  5. If you see any gaps between your lashes then fill it in with liner to complete the look.

I love my lashes! I found cutting them down was better in looks rather than the whole strip! My only problem is when I clean them they lose majority of their look :(

I've heard that my sister is new to make up, and she wants to wear false lashes. I think I'll buy her some criss-cross false lashes from a good store since it might be the variation that she's looking for. Thanks for the idea that she should use a mirror so that she can see what she's doing clearly, so I'll make sure that she uses that idea when she finally tries to put them on.
