Last week Myself, My Father and My Sister headed to Galway for a night and a day it was last minute so we decided to book the travel lodge which is located roughly 5 min from Eyre square the hotel was super convenient for an overnight stay, we booked a triple single room which was your standard travel lodge bedroom you had a tv, tea and coffee making facilities and free internet. The hotel has a 24-hour front desk for express check out the staff were friendly and were willing to provide you with information regarding places of interest. The hotel offers free parking, but there are limited spaces at the front of the hotel if you do decide to stay at the travel lodge and find the parking difficult don’t hesitate in asking the staff as there is additional secure parking located at the back of the hotel. In regards to checking in time its 3.00pm till 11:00 pm and check out Is until noon, we checked out early and had breakfast at the hotel the breakfast was additional €9.50 each.

My sister was doing a day course, so I and my dad decided to tour around Galway whilst Aimee was on her course, We visited Spiddal the home of Rosa Na Run and Carraroe where we checked out the stunning Coral beach, dad and I continued to tour around Galway and we drove to a few islands such as Lettermore, Trabane and Lettermullan. Once Aimee was done with her course we decided to visit Kylemore Abbey.

Kylemore Abbey was built as a castle in 1868 and is now the abbey and home of the Benedictine community of nuns when the Benedictine nuns arrived in Kylemore they opened a world-renowned boarding school for girls which closed in 2010 and began to restore the abbey, Gothic church and Victorian walled garden.

The location of the abbey is stunning overlooking the lake, it was late enough when we arrived it was 5.30pm The first place on the grounds, we decided to visit was the Victorian walled garden as it was the first to close the entrance fee was roughly €12.60 each they also have various ticket options available for families.
Tickets : www.kylemoreabbey.com/tickets-information/

The Ground floor of the abbey is only accessible for visitors so you can get a glimpse to see what life was like 150 years ago the Benedictine nuns use and own most of the Abbey. The Gothic Church was closed when we arrived the church was built in memory of Mitchell Henrys late wife Margaret who originally built the castle. If you ever are in Galway I would 100% recommend visiting Kylemore Abbey it would make a great family day out, there are activities for the kids, tea rooms and picnic benches located all over the grounds they also have shuttle busses around the grounds which makes it handy for families or large groups travelling together.
